NLMK announced its acquisition of National Laminations Group, a service center in India, specializing in cutting and distribution of electrical steel.

The acquisition price is approximately $ 8 million, the company said.

This acquisition will allow NLMK to strengthen its position on Indian market of transformer steel on the basis of competitive advantage of complete control over the production chain from production of liquid steel to the delivery of transformer steel to the users, as it was indicated in the release.

National Laminations Group is company engaged in slitting and distribution of the anisotropic (transformer) steel.

The company includes about 50 people. Processing and storage facilities, manufacturing areas of National Laminations, located 200 km from Mumbai, make 16 thousand tons per year and 15 tons respectively.

The company also owns warehouses with capacity of 40 tons, located 20 km from Mumbai, near the port, which simplifies the delivery of NLMK’s transformer steel from Russia.

A favorable location of the company provides the customers with the access to the western part of India, which is a significant proportion of transformer steel of the country, as well as improves the efficiency of the distribution system as a whole by reducing the delivery time of products across India. The company provides processed products to a wide range of consumers, including local and international manufacturers of transformers.
