23-Year-Old Killed In Huntington Beach Collision

Huntington Beach authorities responded to an accident involving a U-Haul and motorcyclist late Sunday night.  Huntington Police stated that the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 8th Street.

According to investigators, the motorcyclist was heading north on Pacific Coast Highway on his 2012 Yamaha YZF-R6, when he collided into a U-Haul van crossing Pacific Coast Highway from 8th Street.  The motorcycle was basically destroyed with parts scattered all over the intersection.  Huntington Beach Police identified the motorcyclist as 23-year-old Lake Wood resident Devin Santiago.

Santiago was seriously injured and found partially underneath the moving van then police arrived on scene.  Paramedics then transported him to Hoag Hospital where he died later that night.

The 59-year-old driver of the U-Haul and his wife were both uninjured and questioned by police.  Huntington Beach Police have not made any arrests or issued any citations.

Accident In Irvine Kills Young Motorcylist

Early Sunday morning Irvine authorities were dispatched to a accident involving a motorcyclist seriously injured.  Irvine Police pronounce the 23-year-old motorcyclist dead on the scene.  The impact from being thrown was the main cause of death stated police.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI After Killing Young Woman in Costa Mesa

A car accident in Costa Mesa leaves a young 23-year-old woman dead after a suspected drunk driver collided into her Kia Optima.  The accident took place near the northbound 405 Freeway and Harbor Boulevard Saturday night.  Police identified the driver of the Nissan Titan as 22-year-old Brandon Alvarez of Anaheim.

According to Costa Mesa Police, Alvarez was getting off the 405 Freeway but failed to stop at the intersection when he then plowed into the Kia.  Prior to the accident Alvarez had committed a hit-and-run was actually was running from authorities.   Over a dozen beer cans were scattered around the scene of the accident, as well as Alvarez’s vehicle.  Alvarez was transported to the hospital for moderate injuries he sustained in the accident.

The young woman killed was identified as 23-year-old Marcela Garciaguirre of Irvine.  Authorities stated that she was killed on impact.  She was also driving with a male passenger from Irvine who was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.  His identity has not yet been released to the public.
